There are momentous spaces in time filled only by another's decision to
process their emotions through music and their ability to do so
exceptionally. A pair of headphones and the right song can mean all the
difference in how one experiences and remembers that particular moment.
Music is a universal language that binds humans together in how they
process pain, pleasure, joy, sadness, light, darkness, fear and
tranquility. Brian Smith revolves his music philosophy tp this end: that
those who would listen resonate with what they hear and benefit.
Bred in Philadelphia, forged in Providence, refined in India, and
sharpened in Virginia, Brian Smith has no shortage of experience to draw
from. His journey began in 2006 where he picked up his father's acoustic
guitar and taught himself how to play. From there he joined a worship
team at a local church and began growing as a musician and vocalist.
Post highschool, Brian spent a year at the International House of Prayer
in Kansas City to continue his path as a Worship leader. A drifter at
heart, Brian left Missouri and went to Culinary school in Providence,
RI. Although music was on the back burner, it never left his soul and
followed him to India where he spent time in the Himilayas cooking. Upon
his return home, he moved to Virginia to bottle wine. Here he played
paid gigs at local wineries where he would sit with a bottle of wine and
play for hours for visitors and locals. Eventually it was time to return
home, where Brian wrote and recorded Hurt in the Hindsight, an EP that
recalls his journey from Providence to Virginia. Brian landed in
Philadelphia where he worked for some time as a professional chef and
now works as a Philadelphia Police Officer.
These experiences, trials, tribulations... this wisdom, these joys, were
meant to be shared and from them something gained. Today, Brian's hope
is that somewhere, someone is listening and deriving whatever from it
they need in that particular moment, and that it would make all the
difference, as so many of his influences had in his life.
